Viparis will install a giant vegetable garden on the roofs of the Parc des expositions in 2020
The garden is expected to cover the roof of Hall 6 of the Parc des Expositions at Porte de Versailles in 2020 and produce fruit and vegetables sold nearby.
This giant garden of 14,000 m2 should house thousands of fruits and vegetables. It is part of the modernization program planned by Viparis that would elevate the site "to the highest international standards, to make it a model of sustainable development, a place to live as a business center. The goal is to offer fruits and vegetables that respect the seasons and the biodiversity, and to limit as much as possible the carbon impact of this urban agriculture project. In addition, 140 portions of parcels will be offered for rent to residents who want to grow their own fruits and vegetables.
Despite practices respecting organic standards, the label "organic" will not be granted because French regulations require that the plants are grown in the ground.
Finally, this project aims to promote the short circuits and the food obtained on the farm will supply the inhabitants of the south of Paris and the neighboring communes by direct sale.
