Urban Canopée installed on the forecourt of the BNF
SEMAPA, a local public development company, has launched a call for projects on the theme of "Urban Innovation Districts" for the Paris Rive Gauche district. Among the fifteen winning projects is Urban Canopée, the latest urban innovation launched by Urban Lab, the urban experimentation laboratory of Paris&Co.
In January, five "Corolles" were installed on the BNF square for a one-year test phase. The "Corolle", a light structure, a sort of large, autonomous and connected parasol to combat the effects of global warming, will bring freshness, urban biodiversity, and improve air quality for a better quality of life. This green street furniture contains solar panels and an intelligent connected irrigation system to make the city greener and more resilient. This urban oasis will provide shade for an area of 250m².
