STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a world leader in semiconductors with customers spanning the entire spectrum of electronic applications, has selected Schneider Electric as a strategic partner to achieve its goal of carbon neutrality by 2027. Schneider Electric, a leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, will support ST in its new phase of ongoing efforts to reduce its global environmental footprint.

The two companies will collaborate on the overall reduction of energy consumption at ST's manufacturing and design sites, the renewable energy procurement strategy for all ST sites, and the identification and implementation of the most relevant and recognized programs to sequester carbon and avoid emissions.

This partnership builds on the long-standing relationship between the two companies. Today, ST supplies a range of ultra-low energy components used in Schneider Electric's motor controls, power control systems, building management systems and inverters.

Under the new agreement, ST and Schneider Electric will strengthen their cooperation to jointly develop additional products, technologies and solutions focused on improving energy efficiency for the digital transformation of buildings, data centers, industrial applications and infrastructure. In particular, the two partners will explore the potential of broadband semiconductors (WBG) such as silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN), artificial intelligence-based sensors, and broadband connectivity.

Schneider Electric is supporting the transition to an all-digital, all-electric world to meet the challenges imposed by the climate crisis. And we are not acting alone; it is our entire ecosystem, our customers and our suppliers, who are playing a crucial role in this transition. As a customer and supplier, STMicroelectronics is one of our key partners in this regard. By using ST solutions in our products, we accelerate our own performance and efficiency. Thus, by working with ST to define and achieve its carbon neutrality objectives, we are creating a virtuous circle contributing to the fight against climate change while achieving our respective sustainability objectives.
