After supporting the establishment of clear, efficient and predictable pricing mechanisms of carbon at COP 21, Saint-Gobain in the company of the CDP (ex Carbon Disclosure Project) and the EPE (Entreprise pour l’Environnement) studied the integration of a carbon price in the business strategy and operations.

According to Pierre-André de Chalendar, CEO of Saint-Gobain, « The implementation of ambitious carbon price levels, linked with our objectives, contributes to strengthen our commitment to the fight against climate changes.”

A first carbon price will be used in the strategy and the factory plans to encourage investments in energy efficiency equipment.  The second, clearly higher, will be used to stimulate investments in R&D which will accelerate the delivery of technologies called “revolutionary”.

Finally, Saint-Gobain reported that its internal carbon price will be applied to all activities of its companies, located in 66 countries. This price will directly impact on Scope 1 and 2 of these.
