RATP (Parisian transport network) supports the objective of the City of Paris: "100 hectares of green roofs and walls of which 30 hectares dedicated to urban agriculture in 2020". RATP (with its subsidiary management and real estate engineering SEDP) responded to the call for projects Parisculteurs (City of Paris) by offering its site Lachambeaudie. Located on the RATP medical center's roof in the 12th district it has a potential area of 1000 m².
To identify all the RATP sites that can accommodate urban agriculture, RATP and SEDP wished to make preliminary studies (in partnership with other structures). They allowed the implementation of an urban agricultural demonstrator of 250m² on the top of the House of the RATP's headquarters. This demonstrator enables to test different techniques of urban agriculture. For example it savages enough biowaste to feed 4 hens and 80 crayfishes.
The feedback will evaluate what can be done on a larger scale on existing sites and future projects of the RATP.
