Pénélope Komitès, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of Green Spaces, Nature and Biodiversity, Catherine Baratti-Elbaz, Mayor of the 12th arrondissement and Guillemette Karpelès, Director of the SEDP, a real estate subsidiary of the RATP, inaugurated « La Ferme Lachambeaudie "a new urban agriculture project developed as part of Parisculteurs.
The City of Paris has the ambitious goal of dedicating 33 hectares to urban agriculture in the capital by 2020. This is the meaning of Parisculteurs, whose second call for projects will be launched next September. The project promoters will pass by a jury of elected representatives and experts gathered to designate the winners of the vegetation and urban agriculture of tomorrow in the capital.
The RATP responded in 2016 to the first call for projects Parisculteurs by proposing the rooftop of the medical center of Lachambeaudie in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. This is one of the three Parisculteurs projects in this borough.
The start-up Aéroromate, specialized in urban agriculture, has since March 2017 deployed 450 m² of vegetable crops in hydroponics, while promoting biodiversity. The wide variety of crops: fruits, vegetables, herbs and edible flowers allow the development of many pollinators. The production is then sold to the RATP agents of the site as well as to the shopkeepers and restaurants of the district. The crop and the harvest are carried out partly by people in social and professional integration formed by Aeromate. The expected output is 31 tonnes of various fruits and vegetables per year.
