In 2014, Kering and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), the largest environmental organization in the United States, launched for the first time a "Clean by Design" program personalized for Kering.
Deployed at leading Kering Group dyeing, printing, weaving and spinning suppliers, this program aims to improve the energy and water efficiency of textile mills.
As a result of several energy / water efficiency audits of the various suppliers, an individualized action plan has been put in place to improve plant management. Kering, with the help of its suppliers, has implemented more than 150 energy and water improvement processes with an average return on investment of 2.5 years.
In addition to the savings generated by the "Clean by Design" program for suppliers, better collaboration and transparency are now possible.
In terms of environmental benefits, the program contributes to 100% elimination of fossil fuels and an average reduction of 12% in CO2 emissions per plant.
